About 9 Tails Advisory

We were early to AI. Then we saw what it could cost.

AI is often treated as a tool. A public prompt, though, isn’t private — it’s a transfer of your firm’s IP under terms you can’t read. That’s the gap 9 Tails exists to close.

Nine lives. Zero leaks. — a method, not a promise.

The Origin

We saw the power. We saw the risk. We built the answer.

9 Tails came together around a shared conviction — that modern AI is genuinely powerful, and that its default use is quietly dangerous. Our engineers came from the first large language models, the harnesses around them, and running our own infrastructure. The capability was undeniable. But so was the danger: every prompt to a public model is a piece of your firm’s IP leaving your walls, under terms you can’t audit, with no chain of custody you can prove.

For firms that live on privilege and confidentiality, that isn’t a feature. It’s a liability waiting to become a headline.

01The Gap

The firms that run AI safely have a discipline most firms can’t build.

The biggest firms run AI the right way — governed, vetted, self-hosted, and trained. But that capability is built on headcount, risk teams, and vendor leverage most firms simply don’t have.

A twenty-person law firm can’t stand up a dedicated AI governance body. A CPA practice can’t negotiate enterprise terms with a frontier vendor. A boutique can’t hire a security team to vet every tool. So they’re left with two paths nobody likes: continue with public AI and accept the exposure, or do nothing and fall behind.

Two options was a false choice. There’s a third — and it’s the gap 9 Tails closes.

2
Bad options

Leak with public AI, or fall behind without it.

3
The third option

A governed, self-hosted path any firm can run.

02The Method

We paired that discipline with a GRC method any firm can run.

Governance, Risk, and Compliance isn’t a buzzword — it’s the operating system for doing this safely. 9 Tails is built around it.

Every engagement runs the same disciplined framework — Assess, Deploy, Manage, Train — so you always know where you are, what you hold, and what comes next. No drift. No surprises. No exposure left unmeasured.

  • Assess — measure your exposure before you change anything
  • Deploy — stand up self-hosted models on infrastructure you control
  • Manage — keep it current, secure, and provable
  • Train — make competence a firm-wide capability

03Why “9 Tails”

The fox that has seen everything — and learned not to chase what will cost it.

In the old tales, the fox grows one tail for every century of life and cunning it gains. A nine-tailed fox is the fox — the one that has survived everything and knows what actually protects what matters.

That’s two promises in one name:

  • The wisdom. Infrastructure first. Magic never. We know where the leaks happen and what actually protects what matters.
  • The guardian. For a firm that handles privileged, regulated, or irreplaceable data, the whole job is: your client material never leaves your walls.

Nine lives. Zero leaks.

04The Team

One firm, one job: your data never leaves your walls.

9 Tails is a team of engineers, compliance specialists, and client advisors who have spent their careers inside the industries we serve. Every engagement is staffed by people who have done this work — not handed to a junior.

We’re large enough to field a full bench, and small enough that the people who run your engagement are the people you talk to. When you call, you reach the team — not a queue.

Give us a call. We’ll tell you where you stand.

How We Work

Serious by design.

9 Tails is deliberately hands-on. Every engagement gets the attention of the people who run it — not a handoff to a junior. We’re large enough to field a full bench, and small enough to care that it’s done right.

1

Infrastructure-first. We build on hardware you control — no third-party uploads, no unverifiable promises.

2

GRC by design. Governance, risk, and compliance are the method, not an afterthought.

3

Audit-ready. A documented stack your reviewers can actually inspect.
